I missed my Mom, like Kokareç and battered fried muscles at “Champion”,

I missed my Mom, like Çiğ Köfte and roasted eggplant on “Uludağ”,

I missed my Mom, like Barbequed Chicken Wings and Green Salad at ”Haydar”,

I missed my Mom, like Stuffed Mussels with lemon twist at “Sarayburnu”,

I missed my Mom, like Spicy Lahmacun and Turkish Pazorotti with Kassari  at “Ziya”,

I missed my Mom, like Green Onions and fresh Peppers in our summer cottage,

I missed my Mom, like Stale Simit and Salty Ayran,

I missed my Mom, like Black Olives and Fresh Tomatoes,

I missed my Mom, like Baklava and Kadayif at “Güllüoğlu”

I missed my Mom, like a cup of tea at sunset in “Pier Loti”.

 

Note from the translator: Most of the foods mentioned here are Turkish speciality and it is pretty tough to get the feeling. If you have a chance, search them on the internet, you may have a better idea what the writer intended to convey. The ones in quotation marks are either place names or Restaurant names. Again a quick search will give you an idea. This was a tough one!
